More than Pet ID Tags: To the Rescue for Shelter Pets Around the U.S.

After deciding we wanted nothing more than to take our pet ID tag-making on the road to visit and support rescue pets around the U.S., we bought a van and dubbed our new mobile tag-making machine the Taggin’ Wagon! We found an Asheville-based doggie cape maker, Amazing Capes, and asked her to create a few capes for us to take on the road and head out on our mission to help rescue pets across the United States. Check out our photo travel log below!

Up and away we flew from Asheville to West Virginia where we made super sweet pet loving furiends!  Then we rolled into Animal Friends in Pittsburgh where we met amazing super pets just waiting for their superhero capes, unique ID tags and a little extra love to truly let their personalities shine as they search for their furever homes!

Next stop: Boulder Valley Humane Society in Colorado where rescued pets are getting much-needed affection and care. While there, we met Oso (pictured above left) and learned his heart-wrenching story. Oso was taken to Boulder Valley after being found on an Indian reservation with a badly deformed and infected paw. The loving staff quickly rushed him to surgery and amputated it to save his life! We caped this precious fellow and donated ID tags to this amazing rescue to continue saving precious lives like Oso's.

We swooped into Second Chance Humane Society where we met a little dog with a BIG heart, Pippi. A 10 year old gentle one with only three legs, Pippi was dropped off at Second Chance after her owner had to move on to a nursing home. We loved her so much, we just had to help her find her next loving family so we paid her adoption fee and donated 50 custom pet ID tags to the shelter. Later, Pippi's foster mom contacted us and let us know that because of our help, she was able to keep her and provide her with the loving care and family Pippi truly deserves. Superhero SUCCESS!

Our hearts swelled with pride as we pulled into Telluride, CO where we sponsored three spay/neuter surgeries for the Telluride Animal Foundation. Pictured above is founder Katja Wichland whose organization donated over $350,000 last year to help save rescue pets. We're so glad we could lend a helping paw!   We made a few phone calls from our cozy new office.

Then we headed off to Best Friends in Kanab, Utah to volunteer and have a sleepover with one of their pets in our swanky lil' Taggin’ Wagon! Wooohoo!   We picked up Nizhoni, which means beautiful in Navajo, for our sleepover and found this easy-going soul was absolutely true to her name!

We had the pleasure of meeting founder Faith Maloney who helped build Best Friends Animal Society, the largest in the U.S. With over 1,700 animals in their care as of today and 500 employees, this wondrous sanctuary continues to heal, inspire and grow.   So we volunteered a helping paw...

On to Salt Lake City where we sponsored our first kitty! We met Tank, the lovable blue Russian at Utah Animal Adoption Center. He's been with them for over two years and we just had to cape him and help him let the world know he's a super cool feline with a lotta' love to give!   And off we ride to continue our journey capeing, tagging, sponsoring and volunteering… such a heart-warming journey it has been!
